Louisville's 2013-2014 Season Will Include The Book of Mormon, War Horse and More

Two young Mormons and a trusty horse are making their way to Louisville. The 2013-2014 Broadway season will feature the 2011 Tony winner for Best Musical The Book of Mormon as well as the 2011 Best Play winner, War Horse. The season lineup will also include The Addams Family, Sister Act and Ghost the Musical. All shows will play the Kentucky Center.

The Book of Mormon, winner of nine Tony Awards, will open on May 27, 2014 and close on June 8. Written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon follows two young Mormon missionaries sent to Uganda, who soon discover their training did not quite prepare them for the world outside of Salt Lake City.

War Horse, winner of five Tony Awards, will run from November 19, 2013 through November 24. Using extraordinary puppets, War Horse tells the story of young Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, who is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France at the outbreak of World War I. Albert, unable to forget Joey and still not old enough to enlist, embarks on a mission to find his horse and bring him home.

The Addams Family will snap its way into Louisville from October 15, 2013 through October 20. Based on the bizarre and beloved characters created by Charles Addams, this macabre musical finds the Addams clan put to the test when outsiders come to dinner, hurling Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Grandma and Lurch headlong into a night that will change the family forever.

The funky nuns of Sister Act will make their Louisville debut from January 7, 2014 through January 12. The musical comedy (based on the hit film) focuses on disco diva Deloris Van Cartier, who witnesses a crime and goes into hiding in a convent. Under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her new “sisters” find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

The romance of Ghost will touch a whole new generation as the story of the 1990 movie comes to the stage in a brand new musical. The story follows Sam and Molly, a young couple whose connection takes a shocking turn after Sam’s untimely death. Trapped between two worlds, Sam turns to a storefront psychic who helps him protect Molly and avenge his death. The musical spectacle will play from March 11, 2014 through March 16.
